Fourteen-year-old Abby, devastated by the recent death of her mother, knows nothing of her distant cousin William, who lives during the turbulent years of the Revolutionary War. Yet they share strangely parallel lives, and as Abby seeks communion with her mother’s spirit and William struggles to rescue his father who lies ill, far from the family, the “veil” that separates their worlds grows thin.
